Culture is the way a group of people live based off of their behaviors, beliefs, and values. I come from many different cultures, my favorite being that of Sierra Leone. I come from a family that immigrated over from Sierra Leone with very little belongings to call their own. regardless of the many new things my family encountered, they held on to the things that made them proud Sierra Leone people. Such as their clothing, the food they ate, and the language they spoke.
Another culture I'm proud to represent is that of a child who comes from a single parent home. its hard coming from a single parent home because you only have half of the support that a two parent home has, both morally and financially. It's no secret that single parent raise soldiers, theoretically, because of how much harder we have to work at most things.
great post, I like that you went into two different aspects of your culture, only thing is I think you should get a little more personal with you section on growing up in a single parent home, was it your mother or your father? I see you've implied that they were in the military with your picture yet you never mentioned that they were in the military.
ReplyDeleteGood post! Both aspects of your culture are very interesting. First I liked how you discussed your culture and where your family comes from. It shows how proud and fond you are for your culture. It's very interesting reading about what you said about your culture. I was able to learn something knew. Secondly, I like how you included you being raised in a single parent home. I do understand and know the feeling. Both aspects are great and I'm glad you included both.

DeleteI think this post was very informative and interesting! I thinks it's amazing that you have family from Sierra Leone. Coming from a family of six kids and two adults, it's incredible to hear about those who come from a single-parent home. Personally, I feel like kids born into a single-parent home are the strongest people out there! It makes you appreciate the little things which is something a lot of people forget to do! Overall, your post was good! I learned and reflected from it!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post. I like how you mentioned your favorite culture that you are a part of but it would be nice to mention some of the other cultures you are a part of also. I like how you added a picture to show an example of the types of clothing people from the Sierra Leone; they are very beautiful. It must be hard at times coming from a singe-parent home and I can't imagine the feeling but it definitely opens up my mind and I learned a little of what its like. Thank you for sharing your cultures. great post!
ReplyDeleteI like how you started out but over all the post is too small. you could ass so much more like where is this country located what is its background. There are also some grammar issues easy fixes by just proofreading. Maybe talk more about the food, clothes and language spoken add more information.
ReplyDeleteGood post, but there's more I think you really needed to add about the culture of Sierra Leone and having that melt into the American culture. Especially for the culture of Northern Virginia from the American culture part.
